SciFi and Fantasy Art: American Centaur

Of course, horses are not native to the Americas, so in some sense there's no such thing as an American centaur, but of course there's no such thing as a centaur. Anyway, I just wanted to do something vaguely Nouveau with a Native American-looking human half and a more mustang-y horse half. The flowers come from googled images for 'American flower' or something like that. I don't think her face turned out looking very Native American, nor is the horse form entirely wild-looking.

16 Sep 2005	Alyssa Eldredge	Loading... Well, A lot of Native American horses (at least the stereotype) had paint horses. Also, she doesn't look dark enough. Erin Stevenson O'Connor replies: "Agreed. The scan lightened things up a bit. The Native Americans rode the horses they ended up rounding up from the horses descended from those the Spanish left here, but that wasn't until the 16th century or so. Before that, there were no horses. That's all I meant. "
1 Feb 2006	Alyssa Eldredge	Loading... yay! double post! does the double-post dance Actually, in my religion, we DO believe that there were horses in the Americas. And not only in religion either. Since I'm in Idaho, we had to learn about the Hagerman horse fossil that was found in Hagerman county. Erin Stevenson O'Connor replies: "I'd never heard of the Hagerman horse before--thanks for bringing it to my attention. That's pretty cool."
